Actress. She was in over 50 movies during a brief 10 year run in films from the mid 1920s to mid 1930s. Her most famous role was as the beautiful compassionate 'Venus' in the cult film "Freaks." Other memorable films in which she appeared include the 1932 Jean Harlow starring "Red Headed Woman" and "Island of Lost Souls" in 1933. Leila's parents, John Hyams and Leila McIntyre, were vaudevillians, so it was natural that their daughter enter the field of entertainment. Leila married Phil Berg in 1927. She died not long after their golden anniversary in 1977.
