Fern Hollingsworth, age 89, of Stanton, Iowa, formerly Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Fern Hollingsworth was born March 2, 1921 in Wheatland, Missouri the daughter of Lester and Henrietta (Wrinkle) Hollingsworth. The family moved to Iowa when Fern was very young. She lived her entire life in the Red Oak area. Over the years Fern worked at Red Oak Greenhouses, Good Samaritan Care Center, the Gold Crown Inn, and Murphy Memorial Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 1991after many years of service. Fern was a member of the First Christian Church and was a volunteer for the hospital for many years after retirement.

Survivors include her many cousins including Jean Ratcliff of Red Oak, Iowa; and a special friend: Kathryn Strachan of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.
