Ray Adam Mangiafico, age 21, of Sanderson, Florida passed away April 8, 2014. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 16, 1992 to Joseph Leonard Mangiafico and Cynthia Darlene Wilfong Mangiafico. Ray Adam was a resident of Baker County for the past 17 years. He was a 2011 graduate of Baker County High School where he was an All Star athlete. His athletic achievements include being a member of the four time State Champion Weightlifting Team, tying for first place in the State Weightlifting Individuals as a Senior, playing left tackle on the Baker County Wildcat Football Team where he was named All First Coast Left Tackle of the Year and the inaugural First Radio Player Award winner his Senior year and receiving a scholarship from the Baker County Wildcat Booster Club. Most recently, Ray Adam won the Strongest Man Competition in Macon, Georgia three weeks ago. After high school he attended Jacksonville University where he studied Sports Psychology, Child Psychology and Computer Science and also received an Alumni Scholarship. Ray Adam was passionate about children, animals, going to the gym and competing in Strong Man Competitions. In his spare time Ray Adam enjoyed, judging weight lifting competitions, skeet shooting, hunting, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and spending time with his teammates, especially his coaches and best friends, Coach Scott McDonald and Coach Bobby Johns.
He is preceded in death by his parental grandparents Joseph Leonard Mangiafico, Sr., Frank Lee Waycaster and Audrey Waycaster. Ray is survived by his parents; brother, Robert (Samantha)Mangiafico of Hoschton, Georgia; two sisters, Miranda Mangiafico of Old Fort, North Carolina and April Mangiafico of Marion, North Carolina; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Marilyn Wilfong of Taylor, Florida, several aunts, uncles, cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 3:00 pm at The Lord's Church in Taylor, Florida with Pastor Bobby Griffin. Interment will immediately follow in Taylor Cemetery in Taylor, Florida. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Ferreira Chapel.
