THOMASVILLE Sherri A. (Fishel) Boeckel, 43, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Darrin E. Boeckel "Homer'. Together they shared over 23 years of marriage. Sherri was born in York on April 17, 1970, and was the daughter of Lora Lee (Fahringer) Fishel and the late Richard P. Fishel, who passed away in 2011. She graduated from Spring Grove High School, Class of 1990 and earned an Associate Degree in Design and Drafting from York Technical Institute in York. She worked for the former Fleming Co. in York for 11 years and Snyders-Lance in Hanover for the past 10 years. She and her husband were co-founders of Cruise to Grant Wishes Car Shows to benefit her son Joey for the Truck Convoy for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She enjoyed NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon fan, collected Longaberger Baskets and was an officer of the Delaware Valley AMC Car Club. She also volunteered for fundraising for Victory Junction Camp. In addition to her husband and mother, she is also survived by her loving sons, Joey and Nash. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity (Roth's) United Church of Christ, 6417 Church Road, Spring Grove, with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, c/o Joey BoeckelTruck Convoy for Wishes, 39 Rolling Lane, Abbottstown, PA 17301; or Ronald McDonald House in Hershey, 745 W.
