Daughter of Otis and Winona (Wright) Parchman (later adopted by James McQuaid when he married Lataine's mother).

Inscription: "The rose still grows beyond the wall."

Ten-year-old Lataine was a victim of the natural gas explosion that destroyed the junior/senior high school in New London, TX on March 18, 1937. She was in fifth grade.

I'd also like to offer thanks to Charlene Tudor for the monument photo.
