TIPKE, E. "Elaine" (Age 91) Elaine was born near Odessa, WA, on November 9, 1922, to Fred and Mille Tipke and passed away on April 8, 2014 at Willow Grove Home in Spokane. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George and Edwin Tipke; and sisters, Rosella Atkinson, Bedelia Bertholf, and Violet Davis. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Elaine graduated from Mead High School as valedictorian in 1940 when she lived on Green Bluff. After school she moved to Spokane and worked at the F. W. Woolworth store as a bookkeeper for 37 years before retiring. Elaine had the enviable record of never missing a day of work all those years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 4620 N. Regal St. in Spokane where Elaine was a faithful member most of her life. Interment will follow the service at Fairmount Memorial Park. A special "Thanks for a job well done" goes to the staff at Willow Grove Home for the loving care Elaine received.
