MOUNT ZION — Mabel Pinkston 80, of Mt. Zion, passed away at 10:20 a.m., June 3, 2013, in St. Mary's Hospital.
A service to celebrate Mabel's life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Mabel will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until service time. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mabel was born November 5, 1932, in Pana, IL the daughter of Charles and Leona Grace (Barding) Bartow. She married Robert "Bob" Pinkston on September 5, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1999. She was co-owner of Pinkston's Furniture with her husband where she along with her family worked. She enjoyed camping with family, traveling to Branson, MO, flower gardening, and collecting quilts and Thomas Kincaid art.
Surviving are her children: Mike Pinkston and his wife Shelly of Marion, IL, Melody Stimac and her husband Steven of Edinburg, IL, Denise Pinkston of Warrensburg, Denis Pinkston of Mt. Zion, Kenneth Pinkston of Mt. Zion, Keith Pinkston and his wife Shelley of Mt. Zion; brother E.P. "Pat" Bartow and his wife Patricia of Batavia, IL; sisters: Helen Gordon of Lebanon, IL and Doris DeClerck and her husband Robert of Pana, IL; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother. (Obituary written by family members)
