OBITUARY
Alfred C. Shahan, Jr., son of Alfred C. and Frona Shahan, was born June 16, 1926, at Covington, Okla., and departed this life November 22, 1959 at Wichita, Kans., from suffocation in an apartment fire at the age of 33 years, 5 months and 6 days.
He lived in Lonebell community until the age of 16 years and received his education at Arnett Schools. He was married to Edna Faye Allred June 15, 1944. She and their infant daughter, Glenda Faye, passed away in April 1945. Later he married Iva Hosier, and they had one son, Charles Shahan. In August, 1952, he married Leona Gadberry who survives in Wichita, Kans.
He served in World War II in the Philippines and Japan. He had been employed as stockroom head at Cessna Aircraft since 1951. He was well-liked by all his fellow workers and numbered all of them as his friends.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Wreatha Karnes, her husband, George, and their children, Maxine and Gerald who died in 1955.
His passing leaves a void no one else can fill, and he will be greatly missed by survivors including his father and mother, one brother, John Shahan and his wife, Ava, three nephews of Udall, Kansas, his son Charles (Shorty) of Yates Center, Kans.; his wife, Leona Shahan and step-daughter, June Gadberry of Wichita, several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.
