He is also a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, of which he was elected governor general in 1909; and is also a member of the New England Society in the City of New York, which was founded in 1805, and of which he was elected president in 1910. His achievements have been worthy of the family to which he belongs,
and although he has devoted practically of of his time to his business interests, departing somewhat from the traditions of his forefathers, his success has been so noteworthy as to reflect honor on the name.
On June 3, 1885, Mr. Davis was united in marriage to Anna Shippen, of New Jersey, and to this union have been born the following children:

2) Hester L.
3) Ruth G.
4) Anna, who died young
5) William Shippen
6) Sybil W.
7) Wendell
8) Katherine
