Betty Wells Giddens, 70, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011. She was a native of Carson and daughter of the late Ira Franklin and Nannie Eastwood Wells. She was preceded in death by two husbands Malcolm L. Staples and George M. Giddens. She was a member of Tabernacle Methodist Church and a Member of the National Association of Military Retirees. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey W. Merhout and wife, Michaux of Liberty Township, OH and Andrew S. Merhout, Sr. of Carson, VA; three grandsons, Andrew S. Merhout, Jr., Malcolm W. Merhout both of Prince George, VA and Preston M. Merhout of Liberty Township, OH; two granddaughters, Heather S. Merhout and Carrie E. Merhout both of Liberty Township, OH.; devoted nieces and nephews, Pauline Adcock, Ginny Gunn, Janis Minor, George L. Vlkojan, Jr. and Eddie Vlkojan. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will be in the Tabernacle Cemetery in Carson, VA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
