Ada Belle John, 90, Bismarck, died April 10, 2014, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 11:30 am Monday, April 14, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 609 N 34th St., Bismarck, with Rev. Perry Schnabel officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm Sunday, April 13, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Ada Belle was born on May 16, 1923, in the Wilton/Regan area, the daughter of Andreas and Philopena (Buchholz) Hochhalter. She attended country school, often by horseback or in the buckboard. Ada Belle married Richard P. John on June 8, 1942. They farmed near Regan until moving to Bismarck. She worked at K-Mart, Eddie's Bakery, and the OK Confectionary, among others. Her dogs, Snooky, who she trained to dance, and Tiny, were important to her. Ada Belle was active throughout her life, some would say feisty, and could work very hard. She was able to maintain her own home until very recently. Ada Belle is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Jim) Tschaekofske, Bismarck, Janice (Charles) Morton, Sharon, ND, and Nancy Labrensz, Bismarck; eleven grandchildren, Sheri Sorby, Wade Tschaekofske, Sandra Young, LaVonne Stair, Scott Tschaekofske, Charles Morton, Michelle Marquart, Kristine Eckroth, Matthew Morton, Angel Labrensz and Jeremy Labrensz; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2008; an infant son; granddaughter, Bethany Labrensz; five sisters; six brothers; and her parents.
