G W Humble served as a lieutenant in the Confederate Army, Private Company I Third Louisiana Infantry. Enlisted 17 May 1861 at New Orleans. Federal Rolls POW, captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4th 1863. Paroled at Vicksburg July 8th 1863. On list dated Headquarters Allen's Brigade Shreveport, Louisiana reported for exchange March 29th, 1864.

G W Humble died from heart attack. About two years after his death, his widow, L Virginia left her younger children to their oldest siblings. And it rumored that she went to New Orleans. She came back to Franklin Parish one time to see her brothers and did not see her children. She then moved to Texas and died in 1905. No one knew where she was.

My great grandfather, Eli Moore told his daughter, Doris Moore Williams (my grandmother) and her children that when he was a young teenager working at the Beouf River ferry that he put L Virginia Humble on the ferry and she told him that she was "going to Texas".
