Caleb was married first to Sarah Harrell (Most descendants spell it "Harrall", however, it is shown as "Herrell" on their marriage certificate) on October 24, 1844, and was married second to Louise Compton on October 7, 1869. Children of Caleb Washington and Sarah Harrell Todd were: William Lewis; Martha; Melvina; and Mary Eliza Todd. Several descendants have listed Caleb Washington Todd as having died in 1880, however, on the 1900 Rutherford Co., TN Census, there was a C.W. Todd, born March 1844, age 76, married 53 years, born in Tennessee, father born in Georgia and mother born in Kentucky. His wife was listed as "Loueza" Todd, age 70, born March 1830, married 30 years, born in Tennessee, and parents also born in Tennessee. So apparently Caleb Washington Todd died between 1900 and 1910. There was also a "Servant", John Smith in their household in 1900. He was Black, born May 1830 and he and his parents were all born in Tennessee.
Caleb served as a Lieutenant in Companies F & H of the 23rd Tennessee Infantry during the Civil War. He was wounded during the war, and is buried in the Compton Cemetery in Rutherford County, Tennessee.(GMT)
