CLOVER, S.C. — Mary Eliza Goforth Whitaker, 832 S. Grandview Road, died Nov. 11, 2001, at Century Care of Gastonia.

She was born in York County, S.C., to Giles Marvin and Mary Salena Huffstetler Goforth, and was also preceded by spouse, Thomas Humphrey Whitaker.

She retired as head nurse at Payne-Whitney Hospital, New York, after 38 years of service.

Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, New York City, DAR Col. Fredick Hambright Chapter, Eastern Star, former Grand Worthy Matron, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary Masonic Lodge No. 487, member of Homemakers Association of Cherryville, Honor Club of North Carolina.
