Deseret News, Saturday, Sept. 21 1996. Obituary: Hal Sunderlin Eldredge, devoted husband and father, died September 17, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 83. Hal was born February 24, 1913 in Woods Cross, Utah to Horton Adams Eldredge and Lilly Ann Hatch. He grew up in Woods Cross, attending school there and in Salt Lake City. He also attended LDS Business College. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northwestern States Mission from 1933-1935.He married Verda Mary Stevens of Oakley, Utah, Nov. 18, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to Butte, Montana following their marriage and resided there for 10 years, where they owned and operated the Butte Quality Market. In 1946, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they resided for 50 years. He retired from Safeway, Inc. in 1977 after 25 years. He was a dedicated member of the LDS Church, serving in the branch presidency in Butte, and many, many years as ward clerk in Las Vegas, a position he held until just prior to his death.

Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Oral, Albert, and Merrell; two sisters, Celia and Cristie.

Survived by his wife of 60 years; four children, Lana (Larry) Schenk; Salt Lake City; Janet, Las Vegas; Celia (Vern) Belcher, Salt Lake City; and Steven (Lynne), Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter born September 18, 1996. Services held in Las Vegas September 20, 1996. Viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Sunday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m.
