Willis L. Keith Sr., 87, of Retreat, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at his home.
Born Feb. 19, 1927, in Jennings County, he was the son of William Thomas and Bessie (Lewis) Keith. On May 9, 1944, he married Mary Elizabeth (Perry) Keith, who preceded him in death on April 13, 2001.

Willis served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of Cana United Methodist Church, where he fulfilled the position of church trustee for many years, served eight years on the Crothersville Community School Board, was a former Democratic precinct committeeman and a member of Crothersville Senior Citizens. Willis loved his family and the outdoors dearly; he spent many hours gardening, hunting, fishing and raising homing pigeons.

Willis retired from American Can Co., where he worked from 1944 to 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Willis L. "Bucky" (Charlotte) Keith Jr. and Marty J. Keith, both of Crothersville; two daughters, Connie L. (Jack) Napier, of Austin, and Tonna S. (David) Runge, of Crothersville; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilda Jean (Marshall) Terrell, of Flatrock.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Page, Mildred Hildreth and LaVerne Barrett; and one brother, Lewis Keith.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Crothersville with burial to follow at Cana Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
