Dicy was the daughter of Robert West (1792-1875), born in Horry County, SC. Her mother's name has not been found, but she and her sister Sarah Elizabeth migrated to Florida with their father Robert and his second wife Anna and their children together. She was married to Michael Pickels on Oct 1 1840 in Madison County and they raised their children in the San Pedro area of Madison. Their children are: Elizabeth, Jacob, Polly, Robert A, Julia Ann, William Roeann, Sarah, James Piney, John Berry and Levy. There is no record of her gravesite.
