Avard Pratt "Vard" Goodmansen, 90, passed away on 7 April 2014 in South Jordan, Utah.

He was born in Salt Lake City to Augustinus Pratt and Eliza Ann Jordan Goodmansen on 28 August 1923.

He was a Navy man in WWII, married Lois Crow on 16 January 1946, and shortly thereafter was called to serve in the LDS New England Mission. He has also served as a bishop, stake patriarch, gospel teacher, temple worker, and with his wife, Lois, as missionaries in the Seattle Washington Mission.

Vard was patriotic, witty, and very loving as evidenced by annually wakening neighbors to the stereophonic sounds of the Star-Spangled Banner, by peppering every mundane conversation with "punny" comments, and rarely a day passed that he did not declare his love and devotion to Lois to everyone within earshot.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Juli; sons, Michael (Patricia), Grant (Gwen), and Mark (Margene); daughter-in-law, Ronna Goodmansen; his sister, June Davidson; and 162 others who call him grandpa. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, thirteen siblings, and son, Allen Pratt Goodmansen.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the Eastmont Stake Center, 1050 East Galena Drive, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South) and from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
