Ada Martelle Purdy, 86, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:40 p.m., Saturday, April 5 at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born September 3, 1927 in Wabash County, Indiana to Wesley and Edna (Highley) Crandall.

Ada married Robert Lee Purdy in Wabash on May 14, 1948; he died April 30, 1990. She was a nurse's aide at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester 12 years. She attended the Eastwood Church of Christ in Wabash, and loved spending time with her grandkids. She lived at Miller's East since February of 2010.

She is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth Eugene Purdy and Lee I. (Valerie) Purdy both of Wabash,children, 7 grandchildren, James Purdy, Angela (Tim) Sisco, Amanda (Nathan) Prater, Faith (Josh) Dillon, and Brandon Purdy, all of Wabash, Brittany Heinlen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Richard (Amy) Purdy Wilson of Lima, Ohio, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Marilyn Prickett of Arizona and Myra Robinett of Wabash. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, 1 grandson, Todd Wesley Purdy, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in Falls, Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service, Thursday.
