Chanute Weekly, October 6, 1911: Mr. Oliver was born in Coles County, Illinois, August 27, 1861. He came to Kansas in 1900 and settled in Erie in 1904. In the same year he settled in Erie on January 21 he was married to Mary A. Whisnand. To this union were born one son and one daughter, who with their mother, both survive the deceased. He was a member of the Church of God in Illinois, having joined that church when a young man and retaining his membership to his death. He was also a member of the A. O. U. W. at St. Paul, Kas. The remains , accompanied by Mrs. Oliver and son were taken to Charleston, Ill., to be buried by the side of his mother's body.
