Elkanah Kane Canaday: Elkanah was the first child born to Isaac and Martha Canaday. He was a merchant and owned many stores. He had fine cars for his time in history. He could play the banjo and his wife Jane could do the "flat foot" dance.

Obituary:
E. K. Canaday, 71, of MacArthur, died at his residence Friday at 3 p.m. The Beckley Rescue squad was called to his home, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital.
Born June 13, 1891, at Surveyor he was a son of Mrs. Martha Hall Huffman and the late Isaac O. Canaday.
Canaday was a retired grocer and a member of the Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a liftime resident of Raleigh County.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Jane Canaday; one daughter, Miss Lockie Jane Canaday, at home; three sons, Kennis K., Earl D. and Orville J., all of MacArthur; Two brothers William W. Canaday and Dorsey Canaday, both of Crab Orchard; one sister, Mrs. W. M. Horton of Crab Orchard; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Calfee Chapel with the Reverend Sam Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Cole, Hobart Kidd, Harold Reed, James Sanger Jr., J. L. Basham, and John H. Jividen.
The body will remain at the Calfee Funeral Home.
