Birdie Faye Skates Barnett, 89, went to be with her savior on Saturday March 23, 2013. She was taken from us after a short battle with cancer. Just three weeks after being diagnosed she was given relief by her maker. What a glorious moment for her.

Birdie was born on January 3, 1924 to James Story Skates and Mary Irena Skates in Gilmer, Texas.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents. She had four brothers, D. Wilson, Freddy, Cleone and Troy Skates who preceded her in death. She had one sister, Marie, who preceded her in death.

Mother is survived by her four children, Elaine Nesbit and husband Reagan, Linda Mathews and husband Glen, William J. Barnett (AKA Chief), Doris Cox and husband Bernard (Buddy). Granny is also survived by her eight Grandchildren, James and Jeffery Bagnall, Kimberly and husband James Oliver, Kevin Barnett, Shelley Lopez and husband Terry, Carolyn Barnard and husband Bobby, Jennifer Cox and Wayne Walker. Her 11 great grandchildren are: Kasey and Kameron Lopez, Aaron Pounds, Madison Barnard, KayLee Holiday, Jacob and Nathaniel Bagnall, Sara Oliver, Sean, Cheyanne and Nicholas Bagnall.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will dearly miss her but we all know that she is in a better place. She is at peace and now out of pain. She will suffer no more.

The family would like to than Lighthouse Hospice for all of the loving care that they gave not only to our Mother and Granny but to the family as well. Her nurse, Sue, was the most compassionate person that we have had the opportunity to work with. Thank you for all of your help in seeing her thru this time.

Always remember her as the healthy and active person she was before her diagnosis in Early March. She told us over and over, don't cry for me because all it will do for you is give you a stuffed up nose and a headache.

Graveside services and burial will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 26th 2013 at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Son-In-Law Bernard (Buddy) Cox, Grandsons James Bagnall and Jeffery Bagnall, Grandson-In-Law Bobby Barnard and Great-Grandsons Kasey Lopez and Aaron Pounds.

Arrangements by Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628 (512)863-2564.
