Paul W. Burgess was born in Thomasville, Ga., the son of Peter and Ola Burgess. He graduated from Concord High School in 1939 and was a graduate of Tilton Prep. School. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was an optician for 30 years. He was a 50-year member of the First Congregational Church, serving as trustee and Boy Scout leader. He was a member of the Bektash Shriners Drum and Bugle Corps, the Ureka Lodge No. 70 Valley of Concord and Nashua, Ancient Excepted Scottish Rite, and the Weare American Legion Post 65.
