Mr. Charlie Ray Smith age 93 of McMinnville, TN, (Blues Hill Community) died Thursday, April 03, 2014, at N.H.C. Health Care in McMinnville, TN. He was born March 07, 1921, in Cannon County, TN, was a retired factory worker, a farmer, and a member of Sunny Hills Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents Taylor Floyd and Ethel (Bell) Smith, his wife Alice Lorine Jones Smith, grandsons Roger Smith Jr. and Lynn Bell, his sister Velma Fugett, Alice Sneed, Hilmer Hale, Annie Lee Todd, and Naomi Barrett, and brother Raymond Smith.
Survivors include his children Mary (Billy) Bell, McMinnville, TN, Delbert Ray (Rose) Smith, El Paso, Tx, Roger Smith, Liberty, TN, and Russell (Demetria) Smith, McMinnville, TN, sisters Audrey Gaunt, Indiana, AND Nonnie Matheny, McMinnville, TN, and a brother Willie T. Smith, McMinnville, TN. 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P. M. Saturday, April 05, 2014, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. John Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The Smith Family will receive friends Friday 2 P. M. until 8 P. M and again Saturday from 10 A. M. until 1 P. M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
