Retired Railroader Resident 23 Years

James Clyde Allen, 68, retired railroader, died at his home, 531 North Lowell, Monday night after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Casper since 1923 and had been employed by the Burlington railroad until his retirement four years ago.

Mr. Allen was a native of Muskegon county, Michigan, where he was born Jan. 31, 1878. He was married to the former Edith Hall in 1901. They made their home in Casnovia, Mich., for the next five years, after which they moved to Tucumcari, N. M., to live for the following 10 years. Later they resided in Missouri, Tennessee and Nebraska before coming to Casper.

Besides his widow, Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Emerson H. Allen of Medford, Ore., and J. Lloyd Allen of Greybull, Wyo., and two daughters, Mrs. Helen Enyeart, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Elizabeth Becker of Casper. A son and daughter preceded him in death. There are 11 grandchildren and one great grandson surviving.

The deceased had been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for 47 years, joining the order in Michigan and later transferring to the Casper lodge, No. 22. He was also a member of the Grace English Lutheran church.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Charles S. Bream, pastor of the Grace English Lutheran church, at the Bustard funeral home Thursday at 2 p. m. Casper Lodge No. 22, I.O.O.F., will assist with the services. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows' plot in Highland cemetery.
