Patricia Ilene Pitts, 65, went home to be with Christ Jesus, her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2014 after battling cancer. Patricia was born in Abilene, TX at St. Anne's Hospital on October 5, 1948. She was the first child of J.R. Moore and Maxene (Wood) Moore. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxene and is survived by her father, J.R. Moore of Abilene. She is also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, IvaLee McCrary Pitts.

Patricia was born again at the age of 11 while visiting a Baptist church in Guyman, OK. She subsequently met her future husband at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO when they both were students. Patricia and her husband, James Larrel Pitts, Sr. were united in marriage on August 30, 1969 in Irving, TX at Crestview Baptist Church.

Patricia was privileged to serve the Lord along with her husband for all their married life. Thirty-six of those years, she was "Pastor's wife" as her husband pastored two churches; Bible Baptist Church in Douglas, AZ and Iglesia Biblica Baptista in Agua Prieta, Mexico. In her capacity as Pastor's wife, Patricia enjoyed visiting and helping the sick, playing the piano, singing and writing music honoring the Lord, greeting members and visitors, attending church services, and enjoyed the mundane cleaning and decorating tasks as they were done for the Lord. For many years, Patricia was privileged to teach the children in Sunday School in both churches and taught students from K-12th grade in the church educational services.

At the time of her home-going, James and Patricia had been married 44 years. Her husband, James Larrel Pitts, Sr., survives her. To this marriage were born five children; 4 boys and 1 girl, all of whom survive Patricia. James Pitts, Jr. and wife, Jenny of Abilene, Alan Pitts and wife, Mikaela of Abilene, Timothy Pitts and wife, Jennifer of Austin, Luke Pitts of Douglas, AZ, and Alice Pitts of Nashville, TN. She is survived by her grandchildren; Joshua, Devin, Hannah, Anastazea, Aleczander, the children of Jim and Jenny; Ian and Eva, the children of Alan and Mikaela; and Tyler and BabyBoy 2 (due 04/18/14), the sons of Timothy and Jennifer. Patricia is also survived by her siblings; a sister, Sharon Moore of Abilene; and a brother, Roy Palvadeau and his wife, Donna of Richardson, TX. She is survived also by her husband's family including her father-in-law, James M. Pitts of Tomball, TX; her 3 sisters-in-law; Betty and her husband, Terrell Lasley of Houston, TX, Brenda and her husband, Don Tribur of Tomball, TX, and Shirley and her husband, Lee Ballard of Dallas, TX; her 2 brothers-in-law, Ron Pitts and wife, Pat of Celina, TX, and Randy Pitts of Ennis, TX; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2:00p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church, 1149 E.S. 11th St., Abilene, TX 79602 with Pastor James L. Pitts, Sr. presiding over the services. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday afternoon from 12:00p.m to 2:00p.m. prior to the services. Serving as pallbearers will be James Larrel Pitts, Sr., James Larrel Pitts, Jr., Alan Harvey Pitts, Timothy Marvin Pitts, Luke Mancel Pitts, and Roy Elton Palvadeau. - See more at:
