YORK Edith R. Beattie, 93, died at 12:10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late J. Gilbert Beattie. Born September 3, 1920, in York, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Rose (Rudy) Drais. She is survived by three sons, James R. Beattie and his wife, Donna of Columbia, William E. Beattie and his wife, Debra of York, and Dennis G. Beattie of York; a daughter, Jacquelyn A. Carson and her husband, Bruce of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Amanda, Scott, and Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Marie Furst; and a brother, Ellsworth Drais. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
