Victor was the only child of John Bennett Benson and Nellie Beulah Roberts. Victor's father was a farmer in Scott Twp., of Sherman Co., Nebraska. Victor married Kathryn Elizabeth Palmer on June 17, 1934 in Leavenworth, Kansas. They probably met while they were attending Doane College in Crete Nebraska. Prior to WWII Victor was a Social Visitor for Emergency Relief in Des Moines, Iowa. He entered service on December 27, 1943, and was finally separated from the military on October 5, 1946. In 1955 Victor was a civilian member of the group that visited Eniwetok and Bikini Atolls and was one of the five authors of the Report of the Commander, Task Group 7.1, Operation Redwing, published by Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in 1957.
