Baker Rites Tomorrow

Services for Wallace Baker, 48 of Sunset Drive, Route 1 Mount Juliet, assistant chief of the Donelson Fire Department, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Hibbett-York-Hailey Funeral Home.
Wallace Hendren will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Juliet Cemetery.
Baker was killed and his wife seriously injured Saturday night when their car smashed into a tree on Lebanon Road, police said. He was dead on arrival at General Hospital.
Mrs. Rosie Lee Waddey Baker, 38 was in fair condition at General last night. The accident occurred on the S-curve at 1132 Lebanon Road between Nashville and Donelson. Traffic officer G.A. Miller said Baker was trapped in the car. The victim and his wife were on their way home from the Automobile show when the accident occurred, Miller said.
The car, a late-model compact, ran off a 15 foot embankment inot a ravine. police said. The car was apparently moving at "a very high rate of speed." Miller said.
Police reported that they measured more than 100 feet of skid marks leading to where the auto left the highway.
Officers said Baker had got off work at 10 p.m. and had gone to pick up his wife and the two had then gone to the Auto Show.
Mrs. Baker is employed at Garrett's Drug Store on Lebanon Road.
Baker was a native of Wilson County.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Baker is survived also by two daughters, Peggy Lee and Jo Ann Baker; a son, Michael Baker; his mother, Mrs. Annie Nokes, and a brother,Tyler Baker, all of Mount Juliet.
