LUBBOCK — Roy Paul Murphy, 78, of Lubbock, formerly of Dimmitt, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ in Dimmitt with Mr. James Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Mr. Murphy was born May 24, 1935, in Castro County to William Andrew and Ola Thompson Murphy. He married Marguerite Turner in 2001.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Diane Brownlee of Plainview; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Pruitt of Lubbock and Donna Whitsitt of Plainview; two brothers, Ray Murphy of Amarillo and Fawayne Murphy of Astoria, N.Y.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-granchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174; or Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ, 101 S.W. Fourth St., Dimmitt, TX 79027.
