Horn Lake, Mississippi - DOUGLAS H MIXON, 71, was born January 9, 1943 and passed away April 3, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven, MS. He was a devout Christian and a Navy veteran. Mr. Mixon was a driver for Greyhound for 25 years and Roadway for 17 years and loved music. He played guitar and bass and, in his younger years, enjoyed singing. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dolores Mixon of Horn Lake; one son, Carl Douglas Mixon and his wife, Donna of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Kerri Anne Cox and her husband, Rob of Madison, MS; three brothers, Harold Hoyt Mixon of Amory, MS, Doyle Gene Mixon and his wife, Gay of Shannon, MS, and Colon Mixon of Plantersville, MS; three granddaughters, Katie Rose Mixon, Elizabeth Anne Cox, and Morgan Faith Mixon; one step-grandson, Conner Sims; and his aunt, Gladys Pennington of Sulligent, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Katie Mixon; one brother, Redus Buford Mixon; and one sister, Johnnie Mixon. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6 from 2-4 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven and Tuesday, April 8 from 11 a.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Sulligent, AL.
