Patrick Lindy McGee, age 86, of Texarkana, Texas died Thursday, April 3, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

Lindy was born in Dry Branch, Georgia in 1927 and graduated high school from North Georgia Military Academy.

He was drafted in 1945 and served two years in the Army in South Korea. Upon being honorably discharged, Lindy entered Mississippi College in 1947 where he played football; graduating in May 1950 with degrees in Science and Physical Education. After graduation he coached high school football at Senatobia High School in Senatobia, Mississippi and also in Calhoun, Georgia where he won back to back state championships and was selected High School Coach of the Year in District One. From there he coached at Northwest Community College in Senatobia, Mississippi serving as head football coach, athletic director, and taught organic chemistry. In 1956 Lindy joined Merck, Inc as a Professional Representative. During his tenure of 36 years he achieved the status of Executive Professional Representative and served on the Merck Regional Advisory Board.

Mr. McGee was an active and loyal member of the First United Methodist Church having served twice on the Board of Stewards and dedicated over 20 years to teaching Sunday school.

Lindy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.S. McGee, his brothers, D.S. McGee, Jr and Dent W. McGee and one sister Elnora McGee Beamer.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty McGee; two children and their spouses, daughter Linda McGee Schafer and husband Dennis and a son Patrick Lindy McGee, Jr and wife Jennifer; six grandchildren.

Entombment: Hillcrest Mausoleum.
