Dorothy Ozella Nicholls Hammond, age 88 of Houston, Texas and formerly of Port Arthur. Texas passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at her home in Houston, Texas.

She was born on April 2, 1926 to Willie Rush Nicholls and Albert George Nicholls in Birmingham, Alabama.

She has been a resident of Port Arthur for most of her life before moving to Houston 19 years ago. Dorothy graduated from Thomas Jefferson and completed a drafting program at Texas A&M. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Aldersgate Trinity United Methodist Church (United Methodist Temple)

Funeral Service will be at 10am Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, William George "Bill" and Albert Edwin Nicholls and her husband, Charles Hammond.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Gail, Nancy, Susan, Cindy and grandchildren, Stephani, Jame, Christine and her niece, Patricia Donahoe.
