Funeral services for Fred Earll, 93, who died at his home Tuesday of last week, were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Baptist church with Rev. Paul Williams officiating. Mrs. Ernest Packard and J.M. Squier, with Mrs. P.W. Peters as accompanist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden."
Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery under direction of the Frazier Funeral Home.
He was born December 27, 1860 in Kansas, a son of Frank and Maria Earll. He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of 11, locating southeast of Hawarden. Later his father took a timber claim 11 miles southeast of Hawarden, and his brother, Warren Earll, now lives on the farm. As a young man he taught school in Sioux county.
He married Elnora Summers August 15, 1889. She preceded him in death in 1953. They lived on a farm in Washington township until 1914 when they moved to Hawarden. For 50 years he served on the Washington township school board. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Hawarden.
He is survived by three sons, Elmer of Hawrden, Wayne of Canton, S.D., and Berton of Des Moines; two daughters, Miss Leila Earll, at home and Mrs. Lura Grantham of Plainview, Texas; one brother, Warren Earll of Ireton; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Earll of Canton, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Berton Earll and Jerry and Mr. and Mrs. Berton Earll, jr., and Mrs. Richard Earll of Des Moines; Alvin Kluver and Evah Mae Earll of Garfur, Minn., Mrs. O.L. Grantham of Plainview, Texas, and Mrs. C.C. Woodhouse, Miss Elsie Macomber and Mrs. Alma Comstock of Sioux City.
