U.S. Army Veteran
Fredrick Grunden, Jr., 48, of Weir, Kansas, passed away in a three vehicle accident on U.S. 69, three miles north of Crestline, Kansas.
Grunden, who was southbound on U.S. 69, had slowed to make a left turn, and his car was struck from behind by a van, driven by Bill Owen Barks, 72, of Joplin, Missouri. The impact forced the Grunden car into the path of the northbound tractor-trailer, driven by Nicholas Scott Miles, 25 of Louisburg, Kansas.
It was determined that Mr. Barks was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Eugene worked at KOAM-TV in the sound department. He spent several summers running sound at the Weir Baptist Camp. He will be greatly missed.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was the son of Fredrick Eugene, Sr. and Treva E. Baird Grunden of Lawton, Ks.
He is survived by his parents, four sisters, Goldie L. Sanders of Lawton, Juanice L. Hart of Miami, Okla., Bernice Hopkins of Baxter Springs, Ks., and Tiffany Rose Grunden of Lawton, Ks.
