"John P. "Jack" Brennan, 69, of Springfield died at 4:14 a.m. Tuesday at his residence.

He was born Nov. 16, 1923, the son of Thomas and Catherine Brennen Brennan. He married Bernadine E. Sharp in 1950 in Springfield. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Thomas and Robert "Bob", and three sisters, Betty Horsey, Ann Flynn and Mary Cawley.

Mr. Brennan retired in 1982 from the Illinois National Guard. He was then employed by the state Department of Public Aid for five years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church, American Association for Retired Persons and National Guard Association. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus Council 364. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine; three sons, John "Mike" and Patrick, both of Springfield, and Terry of Williamsville; five daughters, Theresa Brennan, Mrs. Phil (Katie) Daniels, Mrs. Thomas (Elizabeth) Gasperin and Mrs. James (Mary Kim) Owens, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Pete (Karin) Rehs of Greenwood, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Imelda Ross of Walnut Creek, Calif., Ellen Hansen of Albany, Calif., and Peggy O'Sullivan of Turlock, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church, with the Rev.

James O'Shea officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
