Alice A. Kasper, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Wednesday April 1st, 2014 at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville from complications of a massive stroke.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Alice's life at the visitation Tuesday, April 8th Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A parish rosary will begin at 4:00 pm and a vigil service will begin at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 9th at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Regina Foundation.

Alice was born February 12th, 1929 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Paul and Agnes (Knoll) Holdgrafer. Growing up and graduating from high school in Marshalltown, Alice received her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.

She later married Kenny Kasper in Marshalltown on April 7th, 1951. Alice began her professional career as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and also as the office nurse for Drs. McLaughlin and Skaugstad. She later worked as the industrial nurse at Leer Corporation (formerly Sheller Globe) – retiring in 1991. She gave of her time to the Senior Center in Iowa City and enjoyed her aquasizing classes.

Alice loved to travel with her husband Kenny and friends, sew various projects for churches and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong and determined woman that always sought to pack the most into the stream of life. She loved to laugh and share the joys of others. She was an avid bowler, constantly striving for increased personal performances.

Alice enjoyed the Hawks playing and loved it even more when those she loved were there to share it with her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always had time for those she so truly cared for.

Alice is survived by her son in law, Mike Earles of Iowa City; two grandchildren; Caitlin Earles of Burlington and Nick Earles of Iowa City; two great-grandchildren; Addison Jane and Jaxson Deane of Burlington and two nephews, David and Dennis.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenny, her daughter Barb Earles, four brothers and three sisters.
