Margaret Pearl Stephens Hunt was born 20 November 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina, the oldest daughter of George Monroe Stephens and his first wife, Mattie Gladys Richardson. She married Bruce E. Hunt, as his second wife, in 1952. Margaret and her husband owned and operated Hunt Galleries Furniture in Hickory.

Margaret died Wednesday, 26 January 2011, at Palliative Care Center & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Her parents; her husband; five brothers—Richard Stevens, James "Pete" Stephens, Ralph Stevens, John Stevens, and Paul "Dude" Stevens; a grandson, Sonny Lee Hunt; and a step-grandson preceded her in death. Two sons and a daughter-in-law; a daughter and her husband; a brother, Daniel David Dean "Dan" Stevens; a sister; five grandchildren; three stepchildren; and twelve step-grandchildren survived her. Pastor David Keck and Vicar Jillian Riddle officiated at services held Saturday, 29 January 2011, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, where Margaret had been a member for many years. Following the service Margaret was laid to rest beside her husband at Catawba Memorial Park.
