Regina C. Bortner, 78, of Hanover, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She was the wife of the late Norman Bowman and the late Kenneth Bortner.
Born July 3, 1924, in Irishtown, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Genevieve (Moore) Smith.
She retired from Hanover Shoe Company and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover.
Surviving are eight sisters, Geraldine Klunk of Irishtown, Mary Caroline Steinour of Gettysburg, Sister Helen Gabriel Smith, Helen Lawrence and Henrietta Gambrill, all of McSherrystown, Margaret Groft of Hanover, Loretta Seabrook of Edgegrove and Mary Groft of Irishtown.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Hanover, with the Rev. John A. Szada Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Friends may call Thursday evening at Hicks Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers to be recited at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, Pa. 17331.
