Loring Bennett Hampton, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Nov. 25, 1991.

Born Jan. 21, 1905 in Brooklyn, Utah, a son of Eli and Ruth Matilda Davis Hampton. Married Fanny Jane Merrill, Mar. 25, 1925, Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member Nibley Park Ward, served as ward genealogy chairman, ward High Priest secretary, stake High Priest secretary, and stake baptismal representative.

He loved and was loved by all family members and will be missed by everyone. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. After retiring from Hotel Utah he was a crossing guard, who loved the children and never left his post until each child had crossed safely.

Survivors: wife, Salt Lake City; three sons and their wives, Loring M. and Martha, James and Nancy, all Salt Lake City; Ronald and Maxine, Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter and her husband, Shirley and Sterling Meldrum, Bountiful; sister, Evaline Gray, West Valley City; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 12 noon, Nibley Park Ward, 2450 So. 600 East. Friends may call Thurs. 7-8 p.m. Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State, and Friday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
