"Funeral services will held Monday December 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Leonie D. Lalonde, 86, who died Friday December 17, 2010 at the Crowley Rehab Hospital. Her life was defined by her love for family and her love for commitment to her Catholic Faith. She rarely missed daily mass and remained firm in her practice of daily prayer. Her great pleasure was to serve as a Eucharistic Minister. She started Rosary groups in Crowley and Eunice, was a member of a Come Lord, Jesus, prayer group, a member of the lay Carmelite order and was instrumental in starting another chapter of this order in Eunice.
She was a wonderful seamstress, taking sewing to the level of true art. Several family members, as well as customers, were married in wedding dresses that she often designed as well as created. Her great grandchildren were excited to receive the Christmas gifts she sewed for them, voicing sadness when it became apparent she could no longer do this.
She was proud of the trips she had taken to several European countries and loved to tell of the experiences she had had. She remained close to several French girls she housed years ago who stayed in the U.S. as part of the Codefil program. These girls and their families continued to visit in the states and welcomed her visits to their country."
