MRS. LEONA E. PREWITT DIES

Mrs. Leona Elnora Prewitt, wife of Robert Prewitt, died Saturday night at 9:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Opal King, 47 M. Street. She had been in failing health for a considerable period and had been bedfast the past year.

The remains were prepared for burial at the Leston Jones funeral home in Heltonville and Sunday evening were returned to the King residence to lie in state. Funeral services will be held at the Liberty Church in Jackson county at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning with the Rev. Ray Snow of Bedford officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty cemetery.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Delilah Hutchinson Edwards and was born in Jackson county on January 19, 1879. She was united in marriage with Robert Prewitt on April 6, 1895, at the age of sixteen years. Had she survived until the sixth of next month she and her husband would have observed their Golden Wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Prewitt united with the Ra Christian Church in Jackson in girlhood.

She is survived, besides the husband and Mrs. King by five other daughters, Mrs. Gertie Harris and Mrs. Goldie Duncan, Indianapolis; Mrs. Daisy Reynolds and Mrs. Chrstiana Morris, Bedford, and Mrs. Lula May, Norman; three sons, Sidney Prewitt, Bedford; Stanley Prewitt, Indianapolis, and Staff Sergeant Wendell Prewitt of the U.S. Army now stationed in Texas; thirty-two grandchildren, eight of whom are now serving in United States armed forces; six great-grandchildren, and three brothers, Earl Edwards, residing in Wisconsin, Claude Edwards of the state of Michigan, and Fred Edwards, Greenwood, Indiana.
