Richard W. Sherback, 79, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born March 4, 1932, in Derry, a son of the late Michael A. and Nellie S. (Panick) Sherback. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Church and had been retired from Teledyne Vasco. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Army. Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Unferdorfer; and a daughter-in-law, Laurie Sherback. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan S. (Kalokerinos) Sherback, of Latrobe; six sons, Richard Sherback and his wife, Cheryl, of Florida, Christopher Sherback and his wife, Rachelle, of Latrobe, Michael Sherback and his wife, Tina, of Latrobe, Daniel Sherback and his wife, Dana, of Adamsburg, Anthony Sherback, of Latrobe, and Robert Sherback and Danielle, of Greensburg; four brothers, Donald Sherback, of Florida, Patrick Sherback, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Michael Sherback, of Latrobe, and Charles Sherback, of Luxor; five sisters, Dorothy DeFelice, of Latrobe, Catherine Joyner, of Blairsville, Theresa Seminsky, of Lloydsvilloe, Marion Hunter, of Latrobe, and Bernadette Irwin, of Stahlstown; 13 grandchildren, Steven, Deborah, Jennifer, Ashley, Jessica, Ethan, Miranda, Blaine, Brady, Abbey, Bobby, Jonathan and Joshua; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Peyton and Madalynn; also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Military services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the American Legion Post No. 515 and the VFW Post No. 3414. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, as celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
