Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 1987, at the United Methodist Church in Lake View for Charles A. "Pete" Peterson, 83, of Lake View, recently of Twilight Acres in Wall Lake. Mr. Peterson passed away Saturday, February 28, at Manning Hospital in Manning after a prolonged illness. The Rev. Gordon Elrick officiated. Eastern Star and Masonic services were held at 6:30 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Lake View by Chapter #18 & Occidental Lodge 178 A.F. and A.M. of Sac City.

James Stock played organ music. Mrs. Truman Reida, Mrs. Willard Swanson and Mrs. Leland Weitzel were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Parkinson, W.K. Hunter, Don Nelson, Pat Hood, George Meyers, Charles Raine, Kurt Kaiser and Paul Sundholm. Active pallbearers were Truman Reida, Donald Hawks, Lloyd Moody, Charles Ferguson, Don Tjaden and Robert Stehr.

Military graveside rites were conducted by Lake View Eilert Auen Post #133, American Legion, and escort was provided by the Lake View Fire Department. Interment was made in Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View, under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Lake View.

Charles A. "Pete" Peterson was born November 20, 1903, in Lake City to Augustus S. and Alice Dehart Peterson. He married Ellen Batie at Webb, Ia., on April 20, 1925.

He was employed as a tankman for Standard Oil and he and his wife owned and operated the Frozen Frontier restaurant in Lake View for a number of years.

He was a member of the Methodist church, the Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge, the Shriners and the American Legion; and he had been a member of the Lake View Fire Department. He was a dedicated booster of school athletic programs.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen, of Twilight Acres; a sister, Mrs. Eva Gardner of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Claude Peterson of Des Moines; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Batie of Sac City and Mrs. Stella Batie of Lake View.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois, and a brother, Beryl.
