EDWIN PIERCE LATIMER Known affectionately as "Bud", was born October 12, 1930, in San Antonio, Texas and died peacefully March 19, 2012 at home with his family in Manassas after a brief illness. He was married June 3, 1961, to Kathleen Marie Ferry, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park, Maryland. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Kelly Kathleen Latimer of Washington, D.C., and Amanda L. Gannon (Mandy) and her husband, Justin Gannon of Manassas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Colin (21), Quinn (20), Tarran (10) and Liam (9) Gannon and Riley (16); InaLee (15) and Madeline (13) Snider. He was predeceased by his older brother, Robert Alexander Waters Latimer, M.D. Bud was educated at St. Ann's on Wisconsin Avenue;graduated from Gonzaga High School, the University of Maryland and George Washington University Law School. The Latimers became members of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas in April, 1962. Mr. Latimer was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in February, 1963. During a legal career which spanned five decades, Mr. Latimer served as a substitute judge in General District and Juvenile Courts in Prince William, Fairfax, Fauquier and Loudoun Counties. Known for his wit and kindness, able to put people from every walk of life at ease, Bud is remembered as a gifted teller of complex jokes and funny stories. He was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of Evergreen Country Club. Annual golf vacations with "the guys" to Georgia and Florida were another highlight of his life. Mr. Latimer served Prince William Hospital; for more than 30 years; where his brother, Bob, was the first Chief of Staff. He served as a Board Member and a term as Chairman of the Board. He saw Prince William Hospital grow into the vital health organization it has become. Love of all things nautical, the Latimers purchased property along Rappahannock River on the Northern Neck of Virginia in 1973. They spent many, if not most weekends, there for more than 38 years. Vacations on the Outer Banks were an annual family event and looked forward to by all from year to year. Mr. Latimer was loved and respected by all who knew him, his sense of humor lives on in the laughter of those he has left behind. A Mass was celebrated 12 Noon Thursday, March 22, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Seton School, 9314 Maple Street, Manassas, Virginia 20110. Seton School is a private catholic school attended by his grandchildren.
