Music was by organist Nancy Fertig and soloist J. Andrew Meredith. Mrs. Delmar Huisenga and Mrs. Oscar Kreft were in charge of floral arrangements.
Pallbearers were Delmer Huisenga, Everett Luckow, Jim Wiegel, Oscar Kreft, Arnold Blessington and David Swenson. Interment was made in Ferguson Cemetery in Lake View under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
A flag presentation was made at the graveside by Eilert Auen Post #133 of the American Legion.
Nick Smidt was born in Carroll County, Ia., on December 20, 1900, the son of Henry H. and Reaka Krenzien Smidt. He lived south of Carnarvon and south of Sac City during his early years, Later on, he lived near Sac City, where he farmed until retiring in 1989.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Jennie Warrington of Wall Lake; a brother Ted Smidt of Lake View; and 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertie; and a brother Gerd.
