She died at the Confederate Home of hypostatic pneumonia due to chronic myocarditis and hypertension with arteriosclerosis. there is no informant listed.

Found in The State 05 January 1956: Mrs. Sara Melinda Griffith Rogers Whisnant of Columbia died at the Confederate Home last night following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Whisnant was born in Gilbert, a daughter of the late Sara Lewie Griffith and David Jefferson Griffith. She had lived in Columbia most of her life and was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one son, William Stuart Rogers of Charleston; two grandchildren, Miss Sara Frances Rogers and William Sheppard Rogers, both of Columbia. Funeral services will be held from the Dunbar Funeral Home at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. James W. Jackson. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
