SUMMIT, N.J. - Blanche J. Shaffer, 90, of summit, N.J., passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the home of her brother, Ronald Johnston of Irvona.
Born May 13, 1923, in Jordan Township, Irvona, she was a daughter of Arthur Johnston and Roxie Bloom Johnston.
Blanceh had a sincere interest in compassion for others. For many years, she helped the homeless and volunteered at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Woman.
She worked as a secretary for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co.
Surviving are her brother, Ronald Johnston of Irvona; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Paul Shaffer; and a sister, Ruth Easton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Fruit Hill Cemetery.
