Ephraim Bowen, son of Robert and Avis Bowen, married Anne unknown about 1750 Va. They had five sons ,Micajah Sr, William, Reuben, James, John. They moved from Lunenburg Co. Va. to Albemarle Co., Va. raised their family and died at Albemarle farm. He left a will that named his wife Anne and his children five sons.
Ephraim and Anne are believed to be buried on the Bowen Farm family plot at Red Hill, Albemarle, Va. Same land as his son Micajah Sr. the Rev. War Soldier is buried on, along with a few other Bowens.

He bought land in Albemarle Co., Va. in Aug. of 1784, on the North Fork of the Hardware River next to his son John Bowen. He farmed his land about 8 yrs. he died by 1792. Anne died about 1815, the son Micajah Sr.. inherited the Bowen farm, after Micajah's death his son William inherited the homestead.
Ephraim Bowen did not serve in the Rev. War, but four of his sons did.(the records for a Ephraim Bowen who lived in RI not ours)

original written will..WILL BOOK No. 3, Albemarle County, VA 1785-1798, pp.162-163. Will probated July 1792, made out 7 Jan 1790, naming sons William, John, Reuben, Micajah, James and wife Anne. Witt: Robert and John Harris and Hannah Uptegrove.... NO DAUGHTERS , Only sons

After the death of the mother Anne, John Bowen sued Micajah Bowen for deed to his land that he said the father had given him. James was a witness for John.. There were several court dealing between them starting in April 1815 and ending in June 1817 when it was dismissed and John was told to pay court fees. James died 1817 and John died in 1818..
Chancery Court,Albemarle Co., Va. Also brother Micajah Bowen sued William Bowen and he countersued over money of sale of tobacco and lands. It was in this letter that William stated he was in Kentucky and when he returned he found that his father Ephraim had been in jail for non payment of debt owed. William managed to pay the debt to release his father.
