Mary married Bernard "Bryan" O'Dea on July 26, 1837 at St. Senan's Church in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland. In 1850, Mary and her family left Ireland and immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Daughter Margaret was born there in 1853. Shortly thereafter, Mary and her children moved to Buffalo. She was listed in the Buffalo City Directory for the first time in 1854, noted as a widow. Unsure when or where her husband died...Canada or Buffalo?

At her death in 1875, Mary O'Day's fourth child John, submitted information to the Erie County Surrogate Court, including the following: "She left no husband, but the following children: Your petitioner (John O'Day), Simon O'Day of Muskegon Mich, Bridget Mack of Buffalo, NY, Kate O'Day of Buffalo, NY, Margaret O'Day of Buffalo, NY, all of full age, the only heirs at law and next of kin her surviving."

Catharine/ Kate O'Day (born 1845, Ireland) was listed on both the 1855 NY State Census and the 1860 US Census. But no subsequent information besides the above petition has been located. On the 1865 NY State Census, it is noted that Mary had 7 children. Four of her children are linked below.
